Salaam and welcome to The Pearl Tent!

The Pearl Tent is a digital space, a virtual village, a hub for Muslim homeschooling parents to connect, ask questions, and support each other. It is a Muslim Homeschooling Village.

As a homeschooling mama myself, I know personally how much I rely on and value the collective knowledge of our veteran homeschoolers. Whether it’s curriculum choices or daily rhythms, or just hunting for a good printer, I have turned time and time again to the parents who have walked that path already.

But it is the search for a fun learn-to-read-Quran program and tips on teaching seerah that made me realize we as Muslim homeschoolers are a unique group with very limited spaces for ourselves. I was frustrated by the Facebook groups that featured more ads than anything useful. And so this space was born, alhamdulillah.

It is my hope that The Pearl Tent website exist as a resource-filled space to benefit new and veteran homeschoolers alike. And I hope that the connected Muslim Homeschooling Village facebook group functions as the interactive sister space to this one.

So welcome! I am Maryam, and here are 5 fun facts to get to know the face-behind-the-space a bit more:

1- I am the mama to 3 beautiful kids alhamdulillah: 5M, 3M, and 1F.

2- I thought we would like unschooling, but realized we prefer a bit more structure so we have settled in our own eclectic routine.

3- My son has always been homeschooled, and insha Allah the kids always will be.

4- I low-key get excited and love the planning side of things.

5- Our homeschooling why: to connect more deeply as servants of Allah together as a family.

So that’s me in a nutshell. Browse around, and don’t hesitate to drop me a ‘salaam; on the facebook page. I hope to get to know you and be of service to you in this space.
